5th Annual ALS 'Virtual' Fiesta
Wednesday, August 12, 2020

7:00pm-8:00pm

Hello Fiesta Supporters,

We’d like to share some important information about our 5th Annual Fiesta Event. It will be a bit different in 2020. However, we feel it will deliver a new and exciting platform and opportunity for the Greater San Diego Chapter and the ALS community.

COVID-19 has directly impacted the entire ALS community and has presented new challenges for our families, and caretakers affected by ALS. It’s also affected the ways in which we gather together to raise the critically needed funds to support our mission. As a result of this world-wide pandemic, and in accordance with the CDC, State of California, and San Diego County COVID-19 guidelines for large-scale events, the 5th Annual ALS Fiesta dinner will be hosted virtually this year.

Because ALS doesn’t stop during circumstances like these, our support for those affected by ALS cannot stop. Our event that typically attracts over 250 people and which raises $100,000+ annually, cannot be held in-person this year, but a virtual event allows the celebration to go on while getting more people involved in the Fiesta than ever before. If you are able, we would love your support in raising the funds needed to continue providing critical services for our families, and caretakers affected by ALS.

Participating in the Fiesta virtually is open and complimentary to all! This is such an important fundraising event for our chapter so there will be many ways to donate including our Online Auction and Fund the Mission (paddle raise) opportunities.

FAQs about the Virtual Fiesta:

Can I still watch the Fiesta and be a part of it virtually? Yes. Please join us on Wednesday, August 12th, 2020 from 7:00pm-8:00pm PST for our live-streaming Fiesta. During this video experience, you’ll get to see and hear from many of our friends affected by ALS. You will also get to celebrate the great work from our Chapter Care Service and UCSD ALS Clinic's teams. The live streaming Fiesta is complimentary and open to all so invite all your friends!  The more the merrier when it comes to helping us raise ALS Awareness and helping us hit our fundraising goal! Click here for how to watch the live streamed 5th Annual ALS Fiesta!

Can I still purchase a Fiesta VIP Package? You sure can! As a part of your Fiesta experience, you will receive a package delivered right to your door that will include delicious margarita cocktails for two, chips and fresh Fiesta-themed homemade salsa, a rolling cooler, a drink tumbler, pairs of women's designer sunglasses, ALS branded windbreaker jacket, confetti beach ball, and MORE! Purchasing a Fiesta VIP Package is a great way for your household to enjoy the Fiesta while also helping to fund our ALS mission so please consider buying one for your house and for a friend. The $205 donation amount is symbolic and representative of the 205 ALS families currently registered with our Greater San Diego Chapter. Fiesta VIP Packages are limited to 100 so click here for details and to purchase while they last!

Can I still participate in the Fiesta Online Auction and Shopping? Yes. This is a Fiesta favorite for the last 4 years and counting so we had to make sure to include it this year virtually. Fiesta Auction is online, can be done via computer, cell phone, or tablet, and is open to anyone. The Fiesta Auction opens Monday, August 10th and closes Friday, August 14. Click here to register for our Online Auction, see Helpful Tips, and Preview our Auction Packages!

Can I still donate? Not only can you still donate, but we need your help. Anytime starting today through to the Fiesta you can simply donate to help Fund the Mission. Your donation can be a general donation for any amount and will help to keep our services in San Diego during these uncertain times. Click here to Donate.

How can I help the Mission Impact? We’re all facing some very challenging times and our programs and services to support families affected by ALS are broadly and urgently needed right now. The impact of the Coronavirus has increased the physical, financial, and emotional burdens faced by our friends living with this disease tenfold. You can help us make sure they all get the care they deserve. Click here to see your Mission Impact.

In closing, it’s important that we mention that we cannot do what we do every day without the kindness and generosity of you and people like you. If you are able, please consider helping us by participating in the Fiesta and donating. For any questions relating to the Fiesta, please contact Eric Andrews, Associate Director of Development & Events at The ALS Association Greater San Diego Chapter (858) 271-5547 eandrews@alsasd.org

Thank you,

Your friends at The ALS Association Greater San Diego Chapter
